Had so much fun surfing at Home Waves at Kabalana with Acela – shoutout Fasen and Paris too! Started of as intermediate beginners (still had a lot to improve), but the instructors took a lot of care in making sure my form was on point and gave me the tools to level up in the line up while being safe at the same time. Also coldest coconuts on the beach!! 10/10 recommend.

We took lessons as a family for 5 days and within this short time we were able to surf on our own. Head coach Asela and the whole team were incredibly patient, supportive, and friendly. Beyond surfing, they also gave us a taste of real Sri Lankan life: we saw the stilt fishermen, fished on Koggala Lake, and enjoyed authentic local dishes.An unforgettable experience – highly recommended! 🌊🙏

Asela was a great instructor and taught us the basics with really clear explanation. We had never surfed before and he tailored the lesson to our ability really well. Would definitely recommend the lessons! He was really patient as well and explaining how to correct our form.

My friend recommended this school and I happily recommend it for you. I was staying in a bit far in Madiha but 3 days in a row I drove here every morning for 40mins on a motorbike – it was absolutely worth the drive. My coach was Tharindu – he reads the ocean so well and assisted me so much on catching the right wave and generally feeling totally safe in a new surf spot. This experience made me realise the next steps I want to learn so I hope to be back next season 🤗🏄‍♀️

Asela is a true master of his craft when it comes to teaching surfing. I came to this area with no experience of surfing at all, and after a week of lessons I was surfing some decent swells on a hard board! I couldn’t believe it. Surfing has always seemed like such an intimidating pursuit for me, but Asela broke it down beautifully, starting from the fundamentals and working his way up. He also taught me how to read the ocean, which is a vital part of this practice. I don’t think you could find a better instructor on this whole coastline; don’t hesitate! 

This is the best surf school in Kabalana, and maybe in all of Sri Lanka! Asela, the owner and teacher, is incredibly talented, patient, and he knows how to make you stand on the board on the first day. I never surfed before, I am 62 years old (young!) and he made me enjoy the sport on the first day. He’s unique, don’t go anywhere else to surf, he’s simply the best!

Asela is an amazing surf instructor and person. My family and I spent 2 weeks learning to surf with him every other day and we absolutely LOVED it. My dad (62) was able to catch waves!!!
